Update on Humbertown Retailers

Dear HVV Resident,

In our last newsletter we provided information about the planned renovation of the South Wing of Humbertown Plaza. We have an update on the future of the stores in this wing which includes Alex Farm Humbertown Cheese, Vanderfleet Flowers, Absolutely Fine Foods, The Novel Spot, Laura Secord, and Humbertown Jewellers. It appears Vanderfleet, Global Pet Foods, and Humbertown Convenience have secured new space within the enclosed portion of the mall.

Evidently, Humbertown Jewellers will be expanding and taking over the space that has been occupied by Alex Farm Humbertown Cheese since 2005. Alex Farm Cheese has not been accommodated by First Capital Realty and has no choice but to leave our neighbourhood. All attempts by Alex Farm have failed to convince First Capital Realty to work with them for a solution and unless something changes, will be locked out by June. The Novel Spot is also losing their space and won’t be relocated although they would love to stay at Humbertown Plaza. It is unclear whether Absolutely Fine Foods will be able to stay. Laura Secord’s plan is unknown.

Many residents have expressed concern regarding the loss of these beloved retailers. If you have concerns, please share with your neighbours and friends and reach out to First Capital Realty: Madeleine Bradshaw: Madeleine.Bradshaw@fcr.ca and Chris Atkins: Chris.Atkins@fcr.ca

Please feel free to forward this email to friends and neighbours.

Sincerely,
The HVVRA Board of Directors
