Humbertown Redevelopment Application Filed with City of Toronto

We’re writing to provide you with an important update on the proposed development of Humbertown Shopping Centre.

First Capital filed its development application with the City of Toronto last week. The application is relatively unchanged from the initial presentation that First Capital presented to HVVRA in May 2010.
For a copy of that picture presentation, click here.

The HVVRA Executive will be posting additional information of the formal application on the website in the next few days.

Always keep checking our website at www.hvvra.ca.

Thank you.

Next Steps

Here is a brief description of the next steps:
• City staff will conduct an initial review of the application (expected to take approximately 1 – 2 months)
• City staff will then present a preliminary report before Etobicoke/York Community Council
• A community meeting will be called to seek public input and comment on the application
• City staff will then undertake a much more detailed review of the application and seek detailed studies on such items as traffic impact, environmental impact, etc. (expected to take approximately 6 – 9 months)
• The final City report (with recommendations whether the development application should be approved or denied) will be presented to Etobicoke/York Community Council

Membership Update and Appeal

Although our fall membership drive was very successful, we are still short of our membership goal of 50% of the total 1,600 households in Humber Valley Village.

We are asking each member to reach out to your neighbour on either side of you and encourage them to join our association. If each of our current members enlisted just one more member, we would easily reach our goal of 50%. To print a copy of the membership application, click here.

We will also be gearing up our fundraising efforts as we anticipate that we will need external professional services to ensure that our association’s views on the development application are professionally presented to the decision-makers at City Hall. To make an additional donation, fill out a membership form and send to HVVRA c/o Dennis Melnbardis at 37 Herne Hill Etobicoke, ON?

If you’d like to get more involved in fundraising or any other committees, please contact Dennis Melnbardis(dennis.melnbardis@hvvra.ca)
